Hublot Big Bang DJ Snake
DJ Snake performed a livestream DJ set in Paris last night to launch his first collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Hublot.
The Hublot Big Bang DJ Snake features a 45mm titanium case with an iridescent “Newton’s Rings” PVD finish of countless blue and purple hues and reworked notched bezel. The watch’s open dial consists of an iridescent lattice in the shape of a globe, a symbol frequently used by the DJ, revealing the black-coated UNICO flyback chronograph movement beneath.
“DJ Snake turns everything he touches to gold,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe. “We are thrilled to have been able to channel his outstanding creativity into this new limited edition piece. The result is truly multifaceted, just like DJ Snake’s talents!”
Hublot is producing 100 pieces of the Big Bang DJ Snake, which is supplied with two rubber straps, one in black and the other with a grey, black and purple camouflage pattern and fabric texture that can be quickly swapped using Hublot’s One Click system.
Hublot Big Bang DJ Snake put some questions to DJ Snake, the most streamed French music act in the world, ahead of the set.
How did the collaboration with Hublot come about?
Well, I have always been a huge fan and collector of Hublot’s pieces. I was lucky enough to be connected with Ricardo a few years ago, we shared ideas and here we are today, about to release my Hublot Big Bang DJ Snake collaboration.
Are you a watch wearer normally, if so is it something that helps you professionally?
Yes even tho I’m always late! Haha. I don’t think i’ve ever played a show without a watch.
How did you approach the design process and conveying your own sense of style into a watch?
We took a classic and timeless model and completely remixed it. I wanted it to be a melting pot of different design elements that I felt had to be in the watch. I feel like that is exactly what we achieved from the globe in the background to the iridescence, to the custom band and bezel cut outs. The watch looks slightly different from every angle and I love it.
Did you encounter any unexpected challenges along the way?
I think the biggest challenge was understanding how many moving parts there are in a watch and how difficult it is to create a custom timeless piece of this quality.
