Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon

The new Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon watch in rose gold incorporates a classical flying tourbillon complication and a playful roulette mechanism in an elegantly designed 44mm diameter case.

Casino features Jacob & Co.’s first-ever flying tourbillon located caseback-side. This timepiece with an eye-caching black onyx dial stands out with its high-end finishings and sophisticated material details. It also houses a fully functional, free-spinning roulette, complete with 37 pockets and a white ball.
In 2019, Jacob & Co. launched Astronomia Casino, one of the most successful versions of the Astronomia series.

As an integral part of the Astronomia collection, it offers a 10-minute rotating platform, a triple-axis tourbillon, a magnesium Earth globe and a spinning 288-facet, Jacob-cut diamond.
Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon watch has managed the design and technical feat of adding a fully working roulette to this already highly functional ensemble. The module which operates that roulette mechanism has been plugged inside the new Casino watch, thus giving it a unique personality.

The Casino case takes its inspiration from the original Roulette timepiece by Jacob & Co., the Astronomia Casino. Yet its dimensions, shape, movement and construction are entirely new and dedicated to this specific piece.
Not since the introduction of the Jackpot Tourbillon (by Girard-Perregaux, 2007) had the music of Viva Las Vegas (by Dead Kennedys, 1980) played so loud in my head. No matter what you think of gambling, the Casino Tourbillon from the king of watchmaking extravaganza will make you want to try your luck at least once. The new Jacob & Co. watch features nothing less than a miniature roulette game with a spinning wheel complete withJacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon watch 37 pockets – 18 red, 18 black and one green – and a white ceramic ball to decide if you are good at betting (when in doubt, always bet on black). Gentlemen, we present you the one and only Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon.
The new watch from Jacob & Co. might be the least extravagant of them all, but it will not go unnoticed, for it is truly an exceptional piece of work. The look is reminiscent of the Astronomia Casino, another Jacob & Co. fully functional gaming creation, but the similarity ends here. The construction, the movement and the case are new, all developed for this particular watch. Only the module operating the roulette was “borrowed” from the Astronomia Casino.
The Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon watch is a perfect way to play and show your love of the game. The 44mm round polished gold case comfortably fits most wrists; the crown, as in the Astronomia Casino, is absent, and the only protruding element is the square-shaped button at 8 o’clock to activate the roulette wheel. This pusher, protected by a serious bodyguard, makes the wheel sitting on a set of ceramic ball bearings spin at high speed with very little friction as the little white ball bounces inside – check out the video above to see how it works. Note the black PVD flange with eight diamond-shaped deflectors needed to add variance to the game and the mirror-polished wall of the centre dial. The ball bounces between these and the sapphire crystal before resting in one of the pockets. Naturally, the watch needs to be laid flat for a fair game.
The roulette module is an important complication, but remember that the new Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon watch is a watch that tells time beautifully. The centre dial is made from highly polished black onyx and features applied kite-shaped gold indices. The hands are filled with Super-LumiNova and are prominent enough to indicate when it is time to quit and go home. All dial elements, including the lacquered roulette pockets, especially when viewed from above, give the impression of looking at a genuine casino table – tastefully designed in respect of fine gaming establishments. The Jacob & Co. Casino Tourbillon watch functions thanks to Jacob & Co.’s manually wound calibre JCAM51 with the roulette module. The time part is regulated by a flying tourbillon, hiding in the back, where you will find two keys for setting the watch and winding the movement with 72 hours of power reserve. The tourbillon carriage is decorated, reflecting the roulette theme seen on the dial side. The gaming mood is enhanced with applied plates screwed on the caseback with the roulette wheel pattern. This portable gaming watch is offered on a black alligator strap with a gold deployment buckle.
