Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar Planets

The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar Planets is the epitome of 21st century haute horlogerie and a globally recognized symbol of Jacob & Co watchmaking expertise. A world-first both in the boldness of its unprecedented concept and its entirely mechanical construction, the Astronomia has gone beyond impressive horological achievements and has been regarded as an outstanding multidisciplinary engineering achievement. Re-engineered from the ground up, the Astronomia Solar is the most compact in our peerless collection of Astronomia calibers. This Astronomia Solar Planets-Zodiac 44mm solar manual winding timepiece featuring a flying tourbillon. A view on four planets from our solar system can be admired with a hand-painted blue magnesium globe for Planet Earth and three gemstones crafted in the most complex of cuts. An Amethyst, a Topaz, and a Peridot stone with their exclusive Jacob-Cut 288 facets complement the cutting-edge watchmaking feats of the Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar Planets Jewelry. The time display sub-dial of the Astronomia Solar Jewelry Planets Zodiac is driven through an infinitesimal differential system that allows it to always remain levelled and hence perfectly legible, even as the movement’s four-armed platform performs its continuous, 10-minute orbit. The Zodiac signs on the blue dial are hand-engraved and filled with 18K rose gold, while the hand-finished hands are coated in 5N Rose Gold. Timepiece is presented on a blue alligator strap featuring an 18kt rose gold deployant buckle. Water resistant to 30m with a sapphire crystal.
Just about a month ago, we took a close up look at the Jacob & Co. Astronomy Flawless million-dollar watch here. Now, after two  years of research and development, Jacob & Co. introduces the all-new, incredibly advanced Astronomia Solar watch, which displays eight planets in full view thanks to a high-tech 44.5mm sapphire case that takes hundreds of hours to make.
The new Jacob & Co. JCAM19 movement of this extraordinary next-model in the  Jacob & Co. Astronomia Solar Planets line houses a massive  439 components. Even more impressive is the fact that those parts constantly rotate in a bi-directional manner to offer an ever-moving solar system.

The caliber features three separate arms, one that displays the hours and minutes (on a disk made of sapphire) that rotates counter clockwise;  a second arm that holds two axes for a gravitational flying tourbillon with 60-seconds and 10-minute rotation times for the two axes; a third arm that features a hand-engraved glove representing Earth, which rotates around its own axis every 60 seconds, and that also rotates around note dial every 10 minutes.  There is also a patented differential system in the watch that ensures that the 12:00 position is always in its correct spot.
The watch features a center 1.5-carat Jacob-Cut(R) Citrine to represent the sun. The base is crafted of aventurine and it rotates in the opposite direction of the bi-directional movement. The concept is to offer a view of the Earth in our solar system.  For a complete and detailed technical look at this watch (including info about the price)
