Panerai Submersible GMT Carbotech Navy SEALs

Envisioning and creating watches for modern heroes, individuals who dare to pursue goals most would not dare, is central to the Panerai identity. Empowering some of the world’s most adventurous souls, the brand advances its technical and design know-how.

During the early 20th century creating timepieces for the Italian Navy helped solidify the brand’s connection to the sea and pioneer covert exploration. Now the legacy continues through a capsule of three watches that draw on the heritage of the United States Navy SEALs. Each reference is from the Submersible Collection, which are characterized as instruments with specialized diving features, and developed with the approval of the elite military force. The Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Experience Edition are available via Panerai.com.

Caliber P.900/GMT animates both the Submersible Navy SEALs Carbotech Edition and Submersible Navy SEALs Edition. The self-winding movement is equipped with central hour and minute hands, a small seconds dial at 9 o’clock, the date at 3 o’clock, and a GMT display of a second time zone. Two spring barrels store energy supplying a threeday power reserve.
Submersible Navy SEALs Carbotech Edition is limited to only 162 pieces, an edition chosen to honor the founding year of the SEALs: 1962. And the words “Navy SEALs” appear on the dial to openly spotlight the collaboration. Every aspect of the watch design merges rigorously considered details that evoke the legacy of the SEALs. The case is fashioned from Carbotech, a composite material u n i q u e t o P a n e r a i based on carbon fiber, while forged carbon composes the dial; its variegated coloration resembles the look of camouflage. Both materials are lightweight and resistant to provide both ease of wear and longevity. Light gray Super-LumiNova™ subtly contrasts with and complements each component, while touches of the signature Navy SEAL color, golden yellow, a nod to the iconic Golden Trident symbol–on hands, bezel dots, date window, rubberized crown and Safety Lock trademark– enhance the legibility of key features. Likewise, the extra-large size of the indexes heightens their visibility. The Submersible Navy SEALs Carbotech Edition is the first 44mm watch from the Submersible collection to feature a GMT function. A small seconds sub-dial styled with concentric circles and crosshairs to resemble a target is yet another nod to its military inspiration. Included are two straps: the first of black rubber, and the second is a bi-material option with a specialized black and gray camouflage pattern worn by Navy SEALs.
Its 44m steel case and bezel are lustrous counterpoints to a shaded grainy black dial, which is darker at its perimeter than at its center. Golden yellow accents on each hand and the numerals in the date window enhance legibility, as do the large dots on the dial. The Navy SEALs emblem is engraved on the caseback, consisting of an eagle clutching a flintlock-style pistol, a trident, and an anchor. The image appears against a stars and stripes background framed by the words United States Navy Seals. In addition, the Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Experience Edition features a black rubberized crown and black rubber strap, plus a second bi-material option with the same black and gray camouflage pattern worn by Navy SEALs. A tool is included to permit easy interchangeability of the straps.

A sophisticated watch brimming with functions for the exploits of modern heroes, the Submersible Navy SEALs Experience Edition is limited to only 20 pieces, with each purchaser receiving access to an adventure that will immerse guests in the history of the
Navy SEALs and grant rare, first-hand exposure to the rigorous physical, emotional and mental demands of SEAL training. Every member of the mission will confront and transcend personal limits under the guidance of some of the world’s most tenacious
warriors, along with a Panerai instrument created to withstand the most challenging environments imaginable.
Housed in a 47mm steel case with black DLC coating, Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Experience Edition displays the same golden, gray and black palette as the
other Submersible watches inspired by the elite military force. Atop the forged carbon dial, solid blocks of gray Super-LumiNova form the dots and indexes, while
the rubberized crown, bezel, hands and Time to Target countdown include golden yellow accents. The emblem of the Navy SEALs is also visible on the dial. A black
rubber strap is included, along with a tool to permit easy interchangeability.

Powered by caliber P.9100/R, Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Experience Edition includes two highly sophisticated complications, the flyback function that allows the chronograph to reset and restart with one press of the pusher at eight o’clock and the Time to Target
countdown, which indicates the time until a designated rendezvous. To operate the countdown, the watch’s wearer will repeatedly push the button at 4 o’clock to set the central chronograph hand at the desired interval; pressing the chronograph stop/start button at 10 o’clock begins the countdown, indicating the time remaining until arrival at the target and, once it is reached, the time elapsed afterward. In all, Submersible Navy SEALs Experience Edition offers a three-day power reserve.
